Rapides Parish School Board approves motion to adjust mask mandate policy

Alexandria, La (RPSB) - In a 7-2 vote, the Rapides Parish School Board has passed a motion to opt-out of mandatory masking, reinstate some protocols from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, but also allow parental choice on quarantine matters, with the following restriction:
Any student identified as a close contact of a confirmed positive can choose to come back to school, but must wear a mask for a 10 school day period.
This order goes into effect immediately.
Per President Joe Biden's proclamation, cloth face coverings shall continue to be worn on all school buses.
