Superintendent's Advisory Boards

Superintendent Powell values the voices of those who shape and experience our schools every day. To ensure our mission aligns with the needs and insights of our community, we have established two key advisory boards: one for students and one for teachers.

Together, these boards play an essential role in driving our work. We believe that by listening to these influential voices, we can create a stronger, more responsive educational community.

Student Advisory Board

Stakeholder engagement is a critical component in the ongoing success of the Rapides Parish School Board. While parents, staff, businesses and community organizations routinely and productively engage directly with the Board and District Administration, student engagement is heavily focused at the individual school level or through sources such as surveys, focus groups and the many student organizations that we offer.

The goal of the Rapides Parish Superintendent Student Advisory Board is to increase student engagement with District Administration.

This board includes students selected by their school administrators as key representatives of their school's voice. These students provide valuable feedback, ensuring their perspectives help guide decisions that impact their learning environment.

Teacher Advisory Board

Comprised of educators who have been honored as Teachers of the Year, this council allows our most dedicated teachers to share their experiences and insights. Their input is crucial in shaping policies and practices that support our educators and enhance teaching and learning.

Teachers meet quarterly with Mr. Powell and other district administrators. Their input has shaped how our initiatives galvanize not only our employees, but our community as a whole.
