Your ACT score opens up a world of scholarship opportunities!

Requirements vary, but many scholarships ask students to submit ACT scores to be considered and sometimes the amount of money you’re awarded even increases with higher scores! 

Bookmarking a few scholarships as a freshman or sophomore and getting started early with the ACT can give you the time you need to build up your ACT Superscore, and maybe the increased awards that can come with it. Don’t try to plan for your future by looking in the rear-view mirror, get started with your scholarship search and start building toward your dreams today!

DISCOVER SCHOLARSHIPS THAT REQUIRE AN ACT SCORE

The Parent Advisory Council (PAC) is a group of parents/caregivers at the district level representing each school receiving Title I services and programs from Rapides Parish Public Schools. The Council is composed of one to four parent representatives from each school. The Parent Advisory Council meets six times during the school year: September, November, December, February, April and May. Members meet with the District Coordinator, other district staff, and community coordinators. 

PAC Members: 

1. Participate in the development of district-level policies and programs. 

2. Participate in training, programs, workshops, and services by the district for the purposes of sharing the information with other parents at their school. 

3. Act as liaisons for schools, district office, and community by sharing information acquired skills received through training sessions. 

4. Share the interests and concerns of other parents/caregivers at their school with district staff.. 

5. Help recruit and train other parent volunteers for the schools. 

6. Parent Advisory Council members receive materials and resources they can use at home to help their child/children to achieve in school. 

7. Parent Advisory Council Members serve as liaisons/volunteers for the school(s) they represent.

The "Reading Recipes" Book Club for parents provides for an opportunity for parents to become better acquainted and form a bond with other parents. The book club allows parents to explore the joys of reading through collaborating with other parents.

The purpose of the book club is to:

1. Instill in their children a love of reading. 

2. Empower parents/caregivers with reading strategies to increase reading skills. 

3. Get parents involved with their child/children through reading experiences. 

4. Create a home library for family use through books received from the book club. Parents/Caregivers who attend book club meetings will receive a new book and resources to use at home with their child/children.
