Student Registration
All new students, including kindergarten students, must have a certified birth certificate, an up-to-date Louisiana health card (Immunization Record), and proof of residence. New students in Grades 1-12 must also provide the previously attended school records. High School students will need to present a current transcript if they are transferring.
What to Prepare:
- Photo ID (Driver's license, State-Issued ID, or Military ID)
- Student's original or certified birth certificate
- Current Shot/Immunization Record
- Two proofs of Residence with your name and address (This can include a utility bill, utility bills, bank statements, or other government document showing the name and address of a person.)

Please report to your child's school to change your mailing or physical address. To change your physical address, you will need to present the following documents:
- Photo ID of Parent/Legal Guardian
- Students Residing with Parent(s): The parent/guardian of a student seeking to enroll shall provide the school with at least two of the items that are listed below as verification of their residential address, each of which must include a 911 physical address with the name of the parent/guardian. A post office box as an address will not be accepted as proof of physical residence.

- Mortgage Documents or Property Deed
- Apartment or Home Lease
- Current utility bills showing the physical address

Open Enrollment (9-12)
"Open Enrollment" allows students in grades 9-12 to apply to attend a high school outside of the student’s transportation zone. The student and parent/guardian must both reside in Rapides Parish. Students who wish to enroll in a school outside of their zone must submit an application during the Open Enrollment month: February.
Students who have recently moved into our district may choose to "Open Enroll" upon transfer.

The School Choice Application Window opens on March 1, 2025.
NEW APPLICATIONS: Applications will be completed and submitted online at rpsb.us during the month of March 2025. Applicants will be contacted after all applications have been received and evaluated. Students are selected on greatest need.

Step 1: Submit the application via District website.
Step 2: Then, when you are contacted by a member of our team, you will need to contact one of the Head Start or Early Head Start locations to schedule an appointment. This is where the entire application process will be completed.

Virtual Program
The Rapides Virtual Program is for students entering 1st through 12th Grade. The Virtual Program offers students a learning option that uses today’s online technology to meet academic requirements. The Virtual Program follows the traditional school year calendar.
Instruction in the Virtual Program is delivered in a structured online environment taught by certified teachers.
Students must have access to the internet to participate in the program. Students may check out devices while participating in the program.
