Registration FAQs

My child is currently enrolled in a Rapides Parish School. Do I need to complete the registration?

All RPSB returning students are required to complete annual registration. A returning student is considered any student who has a current RPSB enrollment. If school is currently not in session (summer), this includes any student who completed the previous school year.

How do I find the zoned school for my child?

Use School Zone Search to search for schools based on address.

What information do I need to enroll my child?

All new students, including kindergarten students, MUST have a certified birth certificate, an up-to-date Louisiana health card (Immunization Record), and proof of residence. New students in Grades 1–12 must also provide their previous school records.

What to Prepare…

  • Photo ID (Driver’s license, State-issued ID, or Military ID)
  • Student’s original, state-issued birth certificate
  • Current Louisiana Immunization Record
  • 2 Proofs of Residence with your name and address
What are the acceptable proofs of address requirements for registration?

ALL students must submit the following in order to be enrolled in the Rapides Parish School District:

Two Proofs of Residence with your name, address, and date

  • One (1) current utility bill  showing the physical residence address for service at that address within the school’s attendance zone (Note: Multiple utility bills shall not be accepted for residency verification); AND
  • One (1) of the following that shows the location of residence within the District:
    • Property tax records; or
    • Mortgage documents or property deed; or
    • Apartment or home lease or, if no lease, a Declaration of Residency Form (forms are available at the school board office; click here for more information.)
    • If the student resides with a legal guardian (court-appointed) the court decree must be provided.

ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS MUST BE SUBMITTED AT THE TIME OF REGISTRATION.

My child will change schools for the next grade (8th to 9th). What registration should I complete?

If your child is moving to a different grade band (elementary to middle or middle to high), but not changing attendance zones or feeder schools, you should complete annual registration, NOT new student registration or in-district student transfer.

For example, at the completion of a school year, if your child progresses from 6th grade at JI Barron Elementary to 7th grade at Pineville Junior High, your enrollment automatically changes to Pineville Junior High, and you must complete annual registration starting in early July.

Our new address is in the same attendance zone as our old one. What registration should I complete?

If the new address is within the same attendance zone or feeder school as the previous address, you should complete annual registration, NOT new student registration or in-district student transfer. Be sure to enter the new address with applicable proofs of residence when completing annual registration. See the FAQ page for examples of applicable proofs of residence.

My child is not currently enrolled, but has previous enrollment. Do I need to complete new student registration?

Yes, even if your student had a previous enrollment but is not currently enrolled, you will need to complete the new student online registration. Based on the information you provided, the office staff will merge your records with the previous enrollments. Additionally, please let the office staff at your school know that you were previously enrolled in a Rapides Parish School.

Do I have to complete the new student online registration in one sitting?

For new student registration, the unique email link you receive after entering your email address will remain active for 30 days. Once you start completing the form, the link will remain active until you complete the registration. Your form entries will autosave, so you can revisit the unique URL at any time to complete your registration.

What if I can't complete this form online, is there a paper version?

All student registrations are done online; there is no paper version of the registration packet. If you need assistance, please contact your child’s zoned school; they can set up a time to assist you.

A student’s assigned attendance zone may be changed in only in two (2) circumstances:
