Rapides Alternative Positive Program for Students
RAPPS is the Rapides Parish Alternative Education Site for expelled students and at-risk students in transition from Juvenile Detention Centers back to regular school.
RAPPS is overseen by the Child Welfare & Attendance Office of the RPSB, with Mr. Cottrell Wrenn, Jr. serving as the Interim Supervisor. Students can be assigned to RAPPS through CWA or can be recommended for placement by principals or by special education personnel at J.B. Lafargue. Students can also be placed at RAPPS through the judicial system.
The length of time the student stays at RAPPS is detemined during the students' hearing at the CWA office. The school board ultimately approves the stay. The process is the same for release. The staff may recommend release to the CWA office, but the determination is made during the hearing and ultimately, must be approved by the school board.
