Meet Our Assistant Principal
Rick Miller

rmillerMy name is Rick Miller. I am excited about being the Assistant Principal at the new D.F. Huddle PreK-K Center. A safe, stable, and secure learning environment is essential for children to learn effectively. I will work tirelessly to provide that environment as well as quality instruction. I have been given the responsibility of being a positive role model for these students. It is an honor to be given the opportunity to mold the young student’s values, beliefs, and help build character for them to excel as successful problem-solvers. I invite the parents and community to share this responsibility so we, together as a team, will make the largest impact on the student’s future.

Meet Our Principal
Alyson Smith

a smithMy name is Alyson Smith and I am the principal at North Bayou Rapides Elementary. It has been a honor to serve as principal at NBR since 2011. In 2001, I began my career at J. S. Slocum Elementary teaching 2nd and 1st grade. In 2004 J. S. Slocum Elementary was consolidated to Lessie Moore Elementary, where I taught 2nd and 4th grade. Wanting to do more for our students and the community, I began my journey as a lead teacher and then assistant principal. Two years later I was named the principal of Lessie Moore. I was raised on a farm where I was taught to respect others and work hard. I attribute my values and love for others to my parents and grandparents. I am one of four children raised by a soybean farmer and learned early in life that “anything worth doing is worth doing right.” This saying is how I believe my school should run on a daily basis. Teaching students and improving their future is always worth doing right! I’ve worked hard with my NBR team in the last 7 years to improve the culture of our school and always put my students first. It is very important to me to continue to build relationships among our staff, students, parents and the community. I am looking forward to continuing to build the future of our students by embracing the changes in our district and at North Bayou Elementary. Please feel free to call me at (318) 445-4260 or email me at .

Meet Our Master Teacher
Cheryl Anderson

andersonAs we begin this new adventure at Huddle Elementary, I am honored to be apart of this team.  I believe each child can learn at a very early age.  Building the child's basic fundamental reading skills is crucial to becoming a fluent reader.  As the master teacher, I will provide support to the teachers so that we can ensure each child has the best opportunity to be successful in his or her early education.

Meet Our Assistant Principal
Jennifer Winn

J winnThank you for visiting our NBR web page! My name is Jennifer Winn and I am the Assistant Principal at North Bayou Rapides Elementary School. I am a proud to be a educational leader in Rapides Parish and very excited about the changes that are happening in our district. As an educator for the last 18 years, I had the pleasure to teach at Horseshoe Drive Elementary for 2 ½ years and at J. I. Barron Elementary for 5 years. While teaching I pursued my masters degree and became the Assistant Principal of J. I. Barron where I continued to work for 8 more years. This past July I transfered to North Bayou Rapides Elementary as the Assistant Principal where I was welcomed with open arms by the staff, students and community. I am honored to be a part of such a great school! As a teacher I learned the importance and benefit of building relationships with my students, their parents and my co-workers. As a leader, I still believe that in order for students to be successful, they must know you care about them not not only through academics, but also socially and emotionally. I am proud to be a part of an administrative team that shares this same belief. As we began to see changes in our school, please know that the administration of NBR is here to answer any of your questions or concerns. I can be reached at (318) 445- 4260 or .
