Reading can take you places. It can take you down the Mississippi River with Huck Finn or into the diary of a wimpy kid. And for top readers at D.F. Huddle Elementary, it's taking them to New Orleans on Thursday.

"When you read it's like exploring," student Maria Neal said. "It makes me feel like I'm in that book, like I'm one of the characters. It brightens up my heart to read."

Maria's favorite book is "The Frog Princess" by E.D. Baker. She is joining about 15 fellow Huddle students with top Accelerated Reader scores in grades 2-5 on a reward trip to the Crescent City for the day. Huddle teacher Cathy Malone raised about $1,800 through family, friends and Facebook contacts to make the trip a reality. Read entire article @TOWNTALK
