How do I know if I have the new gradebook?

When you log in to the PowerSchool Teacher Portal do you see "PowerTeacher Pro under your classes or at the top right hand corner.
If you do not see PowerTeacher Pro, your school has chose not to update at this time.

Click either one of these to open your gradebook.

DO NOT click the "Launch" button unless you need to see previous years data.

How do I open my gradebook?

Click on the words PowerTeacher Pro

Do I need to download the app for my phone or ipad?

You do not need to, just log on the same way you do on a desktop computer.

Do I have to download Java?

NO, this gradebook works on ANY device, PC, Mac, Ipad, tablet, chromebook, iphone, android phone.
All from web browser, if you are connected to interent your gradebook will open.

How do I take attendance?

Nothing has changed there once you log in to your portal, click on chair or chart.

How do I create assigments?

 

INSTRUCTIONS

Click Create
Choose Assignment

1 - Choose class(s) - click up arrow when done

Name assigment
Choose category
Choose score type
Type in points possible
Include in final grade
Select a due date (defaults to today)

How do I enter comments

Choose the SCORESHEET for the class you are working with.

On the Scoresheet click on the FINAL AVERAGED GRADE
Then click on Comment Box

Select comment click green INSERT button at bottom - Close window
Select another student grade if more comments need to be made SAVE scoresheet changes (save button bottom right)

How do I print PROGRESS REPORTS

On Teacher Portal Page click the printer at end of class (homeroom class or which ever class you print progress reports for)

Select Progress Report (Current) from drop down.

Do not change anything in other fields.

Click Submit

On report page, click "Refresh" button until staus changes to "Complete VIEW", or just wait for status to change on its own.

How do I complete grading period?

Ending the Grading Period

1. Finish entering grades- be sure to check date of assignments, make sure date is included in the grading period you are entering grades for.

2. Go to settings and Functions  - RECALCULATE Final Grades - Select ALL CLASSES - click submit

3. Print "All Reporting Terms" sheet - under the A+ charm in gradebook. - SEE VERIFY GRADES

How do I verify grades?


How do I enter a past quarter grade for students that transfered into my class?

When a student comes to your school in the middle of the year.  

The teacher maybe asked to enter grades from other schools, or when looking at your all term report (shown) you will see a student is missing a grade.

To enter grades

  1. Find  the grading period the grade is missing.  You are going to enter a assignment for that grading period called "Transfer Grade".   

  2. Click the drop down on the quarters to see the dates of the grading period you will choose a date in that range to for the assignment.

  3. Once you have your date simply create a assignment for that class, choose a catagory and a date. You can name the assignment "Transfer In Grade"

  4. You can click students and exclude students you do not want to get the grade, or just not give them a grade (you may have more than one student that needs a grade.

  5. Click save when done.

  6. Go to that class scoresheet

  7. Choose the correct grading period.

  8. Enter the grade, you may add a note on the grade that says if the grade came from another school, just so parents know that you didn't assign that grade it is just the grade the student came to you with.

How to find and Enter grade for dropped students.

To find drop students and enter grades

  1. Click on the students charm

  2. Select the "Show Dropped Student Link"

  3. Students that dropped that class will show up.

  4. Click on Students Assignments and enter grade or (grades) if you only know the exit grade just enter that on any assignment.

  5. Click SAVE when done.

  1. Choose the Class and Spreadsheet (blue table)

How do I set up category weights?

Select settings then Traditional Grade Calculations

Select class you wish to set weighting for.

Choose actions by grading period

Choose category weighting from drop down and click the "+" sign for as many categories you will be using in your weighint formula.

Choose Attribute "Category" and type in  the weight, in this example 80% and 20%.

Click SAVE when done.

Select other grading periods and repeat following step.

RECALCULATE Grades

Recalculate Grades 

This needs to be done, in the middle of every grading period
and when you are finished with end of grading period (before office stores grades).

1 - Open your gradebook to ANY page, click on the gear by grading period.

2 - Click on Recalculate Final Grades.

3 - Click check box under the first one (all classes will be selected).

4 - Click RECALCULATE.

5 - White box with dots will indicate recalculation is being done.
