Our Mission   
The staff of the Rapides Parish Title I Program believes that all children can learn and achieve by the same high academic standards that will enable them to function as responsible and caring citizens.

Focus
Our focus this year will be centered around the following commitments:

  • To improve the academic performance of all students.
  • To meet the needs of "at risk" students of ALL ages.
  • To provide sustained and intensive professional development activities that are tied to content and student performance standards.
  • To work cooperatively with parents in the educational process.
  • To provide programs for the acquisition and use of varied educational materials.

 RPSB will beging taking School Choice applications on Thursday, March 2, 2017 - Friday March 10, 2017 from 7:30 am - 4:00 pm in the Instructional Resources Center.

The office of English Language Acquisition directs the English as a Second Language (ESL) programs in Rapides Parish Public Schools. Our goal is to help immigrant students and Limited English Proficient (LEP) students attain English proficiency, develop high levels of academic performance and meet the same challenging state content and achievement standards that all children are expected to meet.

As a chapter of the Louisiana Reading Association, our mission is to improve the quality of literacy for all through the study of best practices in literacy processes and instruction, the promotion of literacy research, and the dissemination of information related to literacy acquisition.
GOALS:

  1. To improve literacy content knowledge and instruction for Louisiana teachers through research-based best practices, literacy projects, and technology integration
  2. To retain and increase current membership numbers and membership participation at the local, state, and international levels
  3. To create and sustain viable partnerships with individuals and organizations who are interested in literacy advancement
  4. To advocate for policy that impacts strong research, standards, practices, and educational reform to support literacy instruction and student achievement

Early Childhood Funding Request

Chapter 709, Part B of Bulletin 140 states, "The lead agency shall provide an opportunity for each publicly-funded program in the community network and the general public in the coverage area of the community network to comment on the proposed funding request prior to submission to the Department and shall include documentation of this process in the funding request."
