School Wide P.B.I.S.
The School Wide PBIS system is an ongoing, data driven, positive support program designed to increase instructional minutes in the classroom, as well as, enhance positive behavioral advancements within all areas of our school. It based upon positive behavior practices among staff and students through effective modeling, teaching, reinforcement, and consistency of acceptable, appropriate social behavioral practices. The collaborative effort of all staff involved in the SW-PBIS system ensures that students clearly understand the expectations required of them throughout our school building. This system emphasizes effective interventions to ultimately change and discourage problem behavior and encourage positive, socially acceptable behavior practices.
Positive behavior practices will be attempted through a system of visual reminders in all areas of our school. This will consist of expectations, meaningful and effective lessons to teach proper behavior, a reinforcement program with varies incentives to interest all groups of students, and an on-going system of evaluation to ensure that the implemented program is effective and successful in all grade levels.
Problem behavior is minimized by focusing on re-teaching appropriate behavior and giving the students necessary skills to replace problem behavior. A school-wide system of interventions for problem behavior is in place. Faculty and staff have been trained in and given a copy of protocol for handling rule violations. A school-wide data collection system will address the occurrence of problem behaviors, and/or problem areas where inappropriate behaviors occur. This data will be entered weekly and analyzed by the PBIS team monthly. The PBIS team will present the information to faculty and staff through displays of graphs in designated areas in the school and also during periodic PBIS teaming meetings.
Evaluation of the SW-PBIS program will be conducted at grade level meetings. The data will be collected on logs and reviewed by the PBIS team to establish effectiveness of varying elements of the program that are in effective of effective and make necessary modifications before problem behavior patterns become to durable.
The ultimate goal at North Bayou Rapides Elementary School is to establish a climate of positive, socially acceptable behavior among all staff and students. Through the involvement of faculty, staff, students, family, and community, we will instill values, goals, and pride in our students to ultimately mold them into healthy, happy, productive citizens in our society.
